# Is WCPOS right for you?

<!-- -->

<!-- -->

WCPOS is a point of sale (POS) for WooCommerce. It runs in a web browser or as a Windows, macOS or Linux desktop app, with iOS and Android apps in beta. It sells from the same catalogue, stock and prices as your online store and records every sale as a WooCommerce order. The free plugin takes cash and external card payments and prints receipts; WCPOS Pro adds integrated card readers, refunds, stock editing, order history, reports and multiple stores.

Until November 2025 the plugin was listed on wordpress.org as WooCommerce POS; the plugin slug is still `woocommerce-pos`, and older reviews, forum threads and tutorials use that name.

This page answers the questions people ask before installing: who it suits, who it doesn't, what it needs, what it costs, and how it compares.

## Who WCPOS is for[](#who-its-for "Who WCPOS is forへの直接リンク")

WCPOS suits a business that already sells on WooCommerce and wants to sell in person from the same stock.

* **A shop, counter, market stall or pop-up that also sells online.** One catalogue, one stock count and one order list, whether the sale happened on the website or at the till.
* **A store that wants its sales data in its own database.** WCPOS is a WordPress plugin; orders, customers and products stay in your WooCommerce installation, not in a third-party service.
* **A phone-order or trade desk.** Look up an existing customer, build their order and take payment by cash or card, or send an [email invoice](/ja/payment/gateways/email-invoice.md) with Pro.
* **A business with several tills or several locations.** Each device keeps its own local copy of the catalogue; Pro adds [multiple stores](/ja/stores.md) with their own receipts, tax IDs and branding; stock is shared across stores unless you add [ATUM](/ja/extensions/atum.md) for per-location inventory.

## Who WCPOS is not for[](#who-its-not-for "Who WCPOS is not forへの直接リンク")

* **You don't run WooCommerce.** WCPOS needs a WordPress site with WooCommerce installed. It does not work with Shopify, Magento or a standalone shop.
* **You need certified fiscal compliance today.** WCPOS is not certified under France's NF525, Spain's VERIFACTU or similar schemes. [Fiscal Compliance](/ja/reference/fiscal-compliance.md) explains where things stand country by country; there is no workaround for a certification requirement.
* **You must complete every sale with no connection at all.** Completing a sale needs a connection to your store: you can browse products, build a cart and save an order offline, but the payment step waits until you are back online. See [Offline Mode](/ja/getting-started/offline.md); completing cash sales offline is on the [roadmap](/ja/getting-started/roadmap.md).
* **You need a self-service kiosk or a vendor-supplied hardware bundle.** WCPOS runs on hardware you already own; it has no kiosk mode and does not sell terminals or tablets.

## What it costs[](#what-it-costs "What it costsへの直接リンク")

* **WCPOS (free plugin):** $0. Open source under GPL-3.0, installed from the [WordPress plugin directory](https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-pos/). It takes sales, prints receipts and syncs orders to WooCommerce with no transaction fees from WCPOS.
* **WCPOS Pro:** $129 per site per year, or $399 one-time per site for a lifetime licence. Both include updates and support for the licence term. See [Pro Licence](/ja/getting-started/pro-license.md) for activation and [Free vs Pro](/ja/getting-started/free-vs-pro.md) for the full feature table.

Prices current as of May 2026; subject to change. Card-processing fees are set by your payment gateway, not by WCPOS.

## How it compares[](#how-it-compares "How it comparesへの直接リンク")

[wcpos.com/compare](https://wcpos.com/compare) has a comparison for each of the main point-of-sale options for WooCommerce: [Oliver POS](https://wcpos.com/compare/oliver-pos), [WooCommerce's official POS](https://wcpos.com/compare/woocommerce-pos), [Square](https://wcpos.com/compare/square), [Jovvie](https://wcpos.com/compare/jovvie), [Vitepos](https://wcpos.com/compare/vitepos), [YITH Point of Sale](https://wcpos.com/compare/yith-pos) and [FooSales](https://wcpos.com/compare/foosales). Each one is written by the maker of WCPOS, takes its facts from the other vendor's own pricing page and wordpress.org, is dated, and says when the other product is the better choice.

## Try it[](#try-it "Try itへの直接リンク")

The [demo store](https://demo.wcpos.com/pos) runs WCPOS Pro with the login `demo` / `demo`, so it also shows the Pro-only screens. On a site that already runs WooCommerce, installing the free plugin takes about five minutes.
