Fiscal Compliance & Certification

Some countries legally require point-of-sale software to be certified against tax fraud, or to integrate with a national fiscal authority. This page summarises where WCPOS stands so you can check whether it fits your jurisdiction before you rely on it.

WCPOS is not a certified fiscal POS

WCPOS does not currently hold fiscal certifications for any regulated market. If your country requires certified POS software, confirm your local requirements before using WCPOS for live sales. WCPOS acts as middleware for WooCommerce — invoicing and VAT are ultimately handled at the WooCommerce level.

We're working on it

Fiscal compliance is an active, ongoing area of development — our goal is to make WCPOS compliant across all the countries our users operate in. The status below reflects today, not where we're headed. If compliance in your region is important to you, let us know in the community — it helps us prioritise which markets to tackle next.

How WCPOS handles tax

WCPOS calculates tax locally in the app using rates downloaded from WooCommerce, then creates the order in WooCommerce. This is fast and works offline, but it means certified/server-side tax logic (such as some compliance plugins) only runs when the order reaches the server. The "Save to Server" action and the Web Checkout / Email Invoice gateways send the order through the standard WooCommerce checkout, where server-side tax and compliance rules apply.

Country status

France — NF525

WCPOS is not certified for NF525. French law requires POS systems to be certified against fraud, so this affects sales viability in France. Because WCPOS is middleware for WooCommerce, invoicing and VAT compliance are handled at the WooCommerce level — see WooCommerce's guidance on French VAT fraud-prevention laws.

Spain — VERIFACTU

WCPOS is not certified for VERIFACTU. Spain requires POS software to be certified; the VERIFACTU deadline has been postponed to 2027. The team is aware of the requirement, but no certification timeline has been committed.

Norway — Kassasystemloven

WCPOS is not certified for the Norwegian Cash Register Act (Kassasystemloven), and no supplier declaration is available. Some merchants in Norway do use the POS, but you should confirm your own legal obligations.

Chile — SII

There is no integration with Chile's Servicio de Impuestos Internos (SII) for validated sales receipts (boletas). Receipt templates are standard, customisable WooCommerce templates, but no SII compliance is built in.

EU — One Stop Shop (OSS)

The POS does not natively support the EU One Stop Shop (OSS) VAT scheme for cross-border sales, because it calculates tax locally from downloaded rates.

Workarounds:

  • Use Save to Server before checkout to trigger a server-side tax recalculation through your OSS plugin, or
  • Use the Web Checkout or Email Invoice gateway to take payment through the standard WooCommerce checkout, where OSS rules apply.

Other regulated markets

For any jurisdiction that requires certified POS software, check your local requirements first. WCPOS does not currently hold certifications for regulated markets. If certification status matters to your purchase decision, ask in the community before committing.
