Notifications
The notification bell in the POS header is where WCPOS surfaces messages to you — product announcements, plugin-update notices, and Pro licence reminders. A red badge on the bell shows how many unread notifications you have (counts above 99 show as 99+).
Opening the notification centre
Click the bell icon in the top of the POS to open the notification panel. It lists your notifications newest-first, each with:
- An unread dot — filled while unread, and the title shown in bold
- A short title and optional body
- A relative timestamp (e.g. 2 hours ago)
If you have nothing waiting, the panel shows a "No notifications" empty state.
Reading and clearing notifications
- Mark one as read — tap any unread notification in the list.
- Mark all as read — use the Mark all as read button in the panel header (shown only when you have unread items).
- Clearing the badge — simply opening the panel clears the unread count badge on the bell, even if you haven't opened each item yet.
Notifications are stored on your device, so the list remains available offline. New notifications arrive in real time while you're connected.
What kinds of notifications appear
The notification centre is used for system and account messages, not for store orders. You may see:
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Welcome | A one-time welcome message when you first connect |
| Announcements | General news and updates about WCPOS |
| Plugin update | A notice that a WCPOS plugin update is available |
| Licence expiring | A reminder that your Pro licence is approaching its renewal date, with a Renew link |
| Licence expired | A persistent alert that your Pro licence has expired, with a Renew Now link |
Important messages (such as licence alerts) may also appear briefly as an on-screen toast in addition to the bell.
The notification centre delivers messages from WCPOS. Real-time alerts for new online orders are a separate, planned feature — see the roadmap.
